I honestly have no
good excuse, besides the obvious, for taking months to update our website. SO much has changed since February, and though I've been anxious to share the boys and their progress, my fortitude was a little beat down under the cumulative weight of our everyday "tangles." I spend a lot of think-time wondering where we're headed, what we've gotten ourselves into, and then in turn, somewhat embarrassed to share those realities.
Fortunately, ruts are almost always temporary. I think the Stones were definitely onto something with "You Can't Always Get What You Want," because as I age, I'm suprised (or not, depending how you look at it) how many times, during particularly low points, an unexpected event offers the exact encouragement I need to propel through a tough time. In my experience, it's never an actual solution, just a bit of inspiration or perspective that breeds what anyone needs...hope. So, now that I'm back on my horse, I'll catch you up on everything boy luck.
The arrival of spring means birthday season in our house. The babies turned ONE (!!!) on March 8th, and it was an emotional, bittersweet first birthday...a true celebration mixed with some lingering feelings of post-traumatic stress. I think it's fairly typical of parents, mothers in particular, to pour over the details of our child's arrival with each passing year. For us, it's completely unsettling to recount the events leading up to the triplets' birth. It was, by FAR, the scariest day of my life and in all honesty, there was a lot of sadness surrounding their arrival. If you don't know their heart-wrenching birth story, I'd be happy to tell you another time, but the details of their post-birth journey can be found at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/molltriplets. It was a bit of a bummer that the boys just weren't ready for a full-blown birthday bash, but we still wanted to mark the occasion. Traumatic or not, it was still a very significant day, afterall! In the end, we counted our blessings, breathed a collective sigh of relief, and focused on our gratitude to have made it this far, relatively unscathed.

We had a birthday brunch, complete with cake. Just because the babies couldn't eat cake didn't mean we shouldn't! |

The boys got new wheels for their big day, and our new "choo choo wagon" has become a huge hit in the neighborhood. Since turning one, THIS is the way we roll...
Six weeks after the boys special day, William celebrated his 3rd birthday in fireman style. Jason and I secretly love to plan birthday parties, so when William requested a firetruck theme, we went straight to work. Check back tomorrow to see our little fire chief's big bash!
What a blessing your family is! Happy Birthday to all of your boys!
ReplyDeleteBTW Joshua and Laura had a new baby, Nathan, on March 8th of this year. What a special day!
